Petuna has set a new benchmark for Tasmanian aquaculture excellence, proudly winning two Gold Awards for its Atlantic Salmon and Ocean Trout at the Sydney Royal Fine Food Aquaculture Competition this week.

Judging was conducted using a 100-point system, where to achieve Gold status, the product must receive a score of 90 or above. Petuna’s Ocean Trout scored 94.67 and Atlantic Salmon 93 points.

The products were judged on several criteria, including visual appearance, visual condition, tasting flavour, tasting texture, taste strength/intensity and aftertaste.

Petuna Chief Executive Officer, Ruben Alvarez, said receiving the high accolade was an outstanding achievement for the company and was a true testament to the hard work of the entire team.

“Petuna is committed to producing the highest quality, sustainably farmed seafood while responsibly maintaining the welfare of our fish and the health of the environments in which we operate,” Mr Alvarez said.

Honouring the traditions of local agricultural shows and produce markets around Australia, the Sydney Royal Fine Food Show celebrates heritage, quality, provenance and innovation.
